2018 ConnecTech Fellows
Meet the 2018 ConnecTech Fellows!

Alex Abramson G
Alex grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2015. Currently, he is a PhD candidate in Chemical Engineering developing biologic drug delivery systems. He is a proud supporter of his local sports teams and enjoys hiking, biking, and playing on his lab’s intramural softball team.
Samuel Cherna '20
Sammy is a sophomore at MIT studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, with a focus in Signal Processing and Embedded Systems. In his free time, he loves chilling, eating, and listening to music (especially all three at the same time!) His favorite bands are The Beatles and Radiohead, whom he saw live in concert last summer in Tel Aviv! ConnecTech will be Sammy's 7th time in Israel, including most recently a gap year in yeshiva in Jerusalem, and research last summer at Tel Aviv University, and he can't wait to be back!

Simona Dalin G
Simona is a Ph.D. student in the Biology department. She is interested in how organisms become resistant to drugs, and is learning how to treat cancers that are resistant to chemotherapy. She enjoys reading, gardening, ceramics, and is still working on finding an optimal hobby to time ratio. She is looking forward to spending time with the Technion students, and exploring Haifa, the Technion, and Israel.

Ronit Langer ‘20
Ronit hails from Teaneck, NJ and studies Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, with a concentration in Biological Engineering. She spent a gap year in Israel, living in Jerusalem, and is excited to return! She loves swimming and sometimes wonders if that has any correlation to her love of sushi. Advanced warning to everybody: I am a little dangerous before I have had my first cup of coffee in the morning. Anyways, so excited to meet everyone in person and looking forward to an awesome summer!

Max Olender G
Max is a PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering studying the biomechanics of diseased coronary arteries. He was born and raised in Michigan, and is a proud Wolverine. Outside of the lab, Max enjoys building things in the student-run workshop on campus, as well as outdoor activities and athletics- backpacking, skiing, biking, and soccer, to name a few.

Noa Schwartz '21
Noa is studying Computer Science. She rows on MIT's lightweight rowing team and is on the board of Friends of Israel. She recently returned from a gap year in Israel where she was part of a mechina (an army preparatory program) outside of Jerusalem. She also had the chance to intern at a Tel-Aviv based startup for several months and is looking forward to further exploring the world of tech and software engineering in Israel through Connectech.

Allison Shepard '19
Allie is studying Chemical Engineering with a concentration in Energy. She is from Pittsburgh, PA and spent last summer in Israel doing research at the Weizmann Institute of Science. She enjoys being part of MIT Friends of Israel, the field hockey team, and Energy Club. She’s excited to go back to Israel and make connections with the students at the Technion and learn more about opportunities in science and technology in Israel.

Keren Starobinski '18 & G
Keren is studying Electrical Engineering & Computer Science as well as Mathematical Economics. She is from Boston, Massachusetts, and enjoys playing the guitar, reading, playing sports, and taking long walks in her spare time. She is excited to meet the Technion students and is looking forward to being in Haifa.
