Birthright Israel: Shorashim

MIT EXPERIENCE

This winter, explore Israel with Israelis on your Birthright Israel adventure with Shorashim & MIT. Travel with old and new friends across Israel, Israelis the whole time, learning, hiking, & giving back. Our trip provider, Shorashim, provides an amazing introduction to both the land and the people in Israel! It's a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of Israel with other MIT students, and to make new Israeli friends who share the excitement and complexities of their country with you.

Highlights include:

  • Explore the Old City of Jerusalem
  • Hike through the Galilee region
  • Wander the streets of Tel Aviv
  • Float in the Dead Sea
  • Scale the heights of Masada and watch the sunrise
  • Spend a night under the stars
  • A 10-day mifgash (encounter) with Israelis your own age, making sure your experience is amazing and authentic.
  • Learn about Israel and explore your Jewish identity

MIT Birthright Extension
MIT Hillel in partnership with MISTI-Israel offers an MIT Birthright Extension directly following the winter break trip each year. This MIT-only unique opportunity adds 4-5 extra days to the Birthright experience to explore the hi-tech side of Israel: labs, start-ups, and hi-tech companies (many of which students choose to return to as summer MISTI-Israel interns). Hospitality and interactions with MIT alumni round out the extra time in Israel.

More Information:

Birthright Israel is an innovative partnership between the people of Israel through the Government of Israel, private philanthropies and thousands of donors and Jewish communities around the world (North American Jewish Federations through the Jewish Federations of North America; the Jewish Agency for Israel; and Keren Hayesod).

This trip is a gift from Birthright Israel. This trip covers round-trip airfare plus ten days of educational programming in Israel.
