Shabbat is an important time for MIT’s Jews to get together. Students reconnect around dinner time for hors d’oeuvres and conversation, to hear from the student board what to expect in coming weeks, and then enter the Main Dining Room for more food and conversation. Often students will continue on together after dinner, whether to a party, a Shabbat Tisch, or a quiet night of playing board games in the Hillel Lounge.

Shabbat morning features a minyan and Kiddush hosted by the Orthodox community (though of course all are welcome!), and then a hot lunch in the Main Dining Room.

September and mid-spring onwards: Shabbat services start at 6:30pm with dinner at 7:30pm.

October through mid-spring: Shabbat services start either at candle lighting or 6:00pm with dinner at 7:00pm.

Students also have the opportunity to host their own Shabbat dinner with our Jew-It-Yourself program!
