Daphne Schlesinger is a student in the Medical Engineering and Medical Physics (MEMP) PhD program. She works on developing algorithms for clinical decision support. She grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and enjoys cooking, painting, and reading.
Rachel Kahn is from Southern California, though she grew up near Seattle. She is a PhD student in Mechanical & Ocean Engineering at MIT and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, where she is studying the distribution of biomass in the deep sea. Fun fact: her favorite color is green, and has been since she was 7.
Michaela is from Massachusetts. She's currently a PhD student in Microbiology studying interactions between mucus and microbes. Michaela also enjoys leading outreach activities, especially about the microbes in mucus and poop.
Bernardo Aceituno-Cabezas is a graduate student originally from Venezuela, born in a small village and raised in the big city. At MIT, he is pursuing a Ph.D. degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (MechE), where he works on robotic manipulation. Fun fact: he loves baseball and pretty much everything that involves analytics, he is a passionate (and sometimes aggressive) Boston Sports fan. He also happens to balance his life as a rower/runner/golfer. He has a deep appreciation for his Jewish-Latino heritage, “especially our energy to the party, and I am excited to share this with you all over this coming year!”
Sarah Avron comes from a small town on the outskirts of Paris, of the name of Palaiseau. She is in a ChemE lab working on polymer recycling/biodegradability… She is always bring her reusable plate/cup/utensils because she might as well give myself less stuff to recycle!
